An Eclectic Conversion

Tucked into the Beaver Valley, a century barn was converted into a commercial craft cidery with a production facility on the lower level and a retail store/tasting room on the upper level. The original barn builder’s rugged craft is evident in exposed timber framing. Large windows were added to flood the interior with natural light and to frame the view of the Escarpment. A sleek modern kitchen will be the hub of tastings, parties and tours. Bathrooms, offices and an elevated glass and steel ADA compliant wheelchair ramp were also created to complete the facility.

“Porter Skelton embraced our project with enthusiasm from the start. They quickly identified the major issues with the design and recommended solutions. They produced a very comprehensive budget from the bottom up which we came to appreciate as one of their major strengths. Trades were scheduled in logical fashion and the pace of the project never lagged. Communications were excellent. The quality of work and attention to detail was high. We always felt that our satisfaction was their highest priority.

The process was relatively stress-free under their skillful management. It was a very positive experience which in some ways we were sad to see come to an end. We highly recommend Porter Skelton without hesitation. They are in a league of their own.”
